Jupiter
Protector
They ask me what love looks like,
and I tell them a lie.
Love looks like glistening eyes,
like moisture dancing across a tongue,
and you think:
‘'oh no! She’s dripping,
I'd better put some snow
around her before she melts away'.
As poison lies fall from cold, cracked lips,
I see that they hold truth.
Musical words ring in my hollow head,
the clinking of chains,
replaced by the chiming of bells.
“Protège-moi, protège-moi
Protège moi de mes désirs
Protège-moi, protège-moi”
In her arms I was safe,
from all the destruction I craved.
Within her embrace,
my deadly potential, depleted-- caved.
